"We invite you to be a major part of sharing the message of the ongoing restoration of the Savior's gospel," President Nelson wrote in the post. "We will share more about this soon, but you can start today by acting on the invitations I extended to you last general conference to immerse yourself in the glorious light of the Restoration." - President Nelson January 2020
At the end of the October 2019 General Conference, President Nelson urged members to prepare for the April 2020 General Conference, marking it as a bicentennial year for the Church since the Joseph Smith's First Vision occurred 200 years ago. In his closing remarks he said:
"It is your personal preparation that will help April's general conference become for you not only memorable but also unforgettable. The time to act is now. This is a hinge point in the history of the Church, and your part is vital."
President Nelson asked members to ask themselves questions pertaining to their life and the Gospel; one of them being:
“How would my life be different if my knowledge gained from the Book of Mormon were suddenly taken away?”
In a Facebook post, President Nelson said:
"You may wish to begin your preparation by reading afresh Joseph Smith’s account of the First Vision as recorded in the Pearl of Great Price."
As well, he asked us to ponder the questions: "How have the events that followed the First Vision made a difference for me and my loved ones?"
"God loves all of His children and has a vision for each of us. Just as He listened to Joseph’s prayer in 1820, He listens to you and yearns to speak with you through the Spirit. We invite you to be a major part of sharing the message of the ongoing restoration of the Savior’s gospel. We will share more about this soon, but you can start today by acting on the invitations I extended to you at last general conference to immerse yourself in the glorious light of the Restoration."
President Nelson promised that as we do these things, "general conference next April will not only be memorable, it will be unforgettable."

This coming celebration of the 200th year, marking the point of the Restoration of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, is a remarkable achievement. The prophet Joseph Smith was a mere teenager and he was able recognise that those churches purportedly representing the Lord where far from the Lord. Joseph had the desire for religion but moreover a desire for the truth. He really had to find out for himself, whether there really was a God or not? Through Joseph’s eagerness to know the truth, he came across a scripture found in James 1:5 “If any man lacked wisdom, let him ask of God….”. This left an overwhelming impression on Joseph because he knew that is how he would find the truth, by asking God. Then sure enough, the young Joseph put it to the test. He went to a grove of trees and made an honest supplication to the Lord, wherein he got down on his knees and prayed for the truth. Now can you imagine, just how terrifying it was, when Joseph experienced a total blackness and a feeling of being surrounded by a satanic power. Yet almost immediately this blackness lifted and a pillar of light appeared, brighter than the noonday sun. What an amazing transformation going from outer darkness, to a glorious pouring of light with extreme intensity and warmth. Joseph at this point must have really felt in awe and perplexed amid such trauma within minutes of his prayer, yet the best was still to come. For as the young Joseph looked up, amid this heavenly glow, stood two personages, elevated off the ground. Could anyone imagine such a scenario such as this, what an amazing experience, that would have been enough to cause anyone to start reeling and swaying. However Joseph had the gumption and tenacity, that only a fourteen year old boy could have had. For if he was any younger or any older he would have scarpered and you wouldn’t have seen him for dust. Young men of that age, tend not only to be inquisitive but to have an amazing brashness, that either younger or older children would have scattered and not have dared hanging about. So as Joseph looked up at these heavenly beings, one of them pointed to the other and said “this is my beloved Son hear Him”. Then Jesus spoke to Joseph, stating he had not to join any of the churches, for although they had some truths, they were influenced and were of man’s creation. After this sacred encounter and on his way home, Joseph was so exhausted by this experience he fell asleep. Then can you imagine the turmoil going on in this young man’s mind once he had gotten home. Joseph had to go and tell his father of this miraculous experience and his dad must have been able to witness his physical appearance and told him to go and lie down. “ Oh how daunting was this meeting”.
We know from these experiences and from Joseph given further visitations, that the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints was restored in its entirety. Yet sadly the evils of this world, not only mocked and persecuted Joseph and the Saints but took away his life. Just as the same evils of this world took away the life of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. Do we cower and deny these evils, or do we stand and fight for the truth, knowing that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God. No the answer is and will always be, we stand up for truth, we live for truth and moreover, we die for truth. God lives and Jesus really is the Son Of God. We are the children of God and we all have His work to perform. May you call me a liar at your own peril. In the Sacred Name Of Jesus Christ, Amen.
