Why:
Playing games has always been an important part of my family life. Growing up, we would always host game nights with friends and even now at family get-togethers, there is always someone playing a game somewhere. I believe that tabletop gaming is about more than just having fun. It helps build relationships, teaches important life skills, and is an easy way to make new friends. Now, it can also be used to study the Gospel!
Over the course of a year, I designed this game based on the events within the Book of Mormon. We know the importance of studying the scriptures and learning the gospel, but memorizing scriptures and connecting stories can be difficult. At first, this game was just intended to be something fun to play on a Sunday afternoon, but I quickly realized it was much more.
As we have played it within my own family and with friends, we realized that it helped us to start gospel discussions, feel excited about the stories, and realize how important it is to continually study the Book of Mormon. I am so excited to be able to share it with you.
This game comes with three available difficulties, the first of which can be easily played with younger kids to help them learn about the most familiar stories they have already heard in Primary class. It is not a game where someone has to lose and someone has to win, so kids don't get frustrated by falling behind other players. The hardest difficulty involves learning about some characters that aren't known as well as Nephi, Alma or Moroni so even gramps will have a fun time playing.
